Day 8 - Christmas Planning

I decided this year like so many people to get ahead of Christmas planning, I wanted to enjoy December as much as possible and not spend my whole time worrying about what needed to be done and never been able to find what I want because I left it too late. So, I literally started my planning for Christmas in September/ October, now I know this sounds crazy but trust me everything has been done. This includes

  • Christmas shopping

  • Christmas wrapping

  • Decorating

  • Card written

  • Everything you can think off plus nearly 20 Christmas blogs!!

The first thing I planned was my theme for the whole Christmas this year.

I personally love keeping to one theme and carrying that from your tree to your presents and the space/room!

Last year I had shades of grey and blues, very different but beautiful, and if you know me tons of holographic and glitter.

However, this year I decided I wanted to do a peppermint/ candy cane, red and white theme this year, the only problem I wanted was to keep it quiet elegant but fun, not too childish like nothing wrong with that but I wanted to keep it still nice but very inviting and fun, defiantly more of a statement piece.

So, once I had started with my theme, I decided how I was going to portray that, I started with Pinterest-ing everything possible relating to red and white - I will try to link my Pinterest if not I will leave it on my Instagram bio. I decided what I was going to need.

Now as I am only doing this them in my bedroom as usual (till I have my own little place and can decorate the whole house) I have a fake tree so I started with looking for baubles, as you would have seen in day 2/3 of my Christmas decorations, I picked up a variety of red/ silver and red and white decorations from different places and placed them on the tree then coated softly with snow spray. ( not pictured)

I wanted the theme to come across subtle but still recognizable!

After that, I went on the search for anything I could them decorate presents and wrap them with, which is where I found my red and white wrapping paper in home bargains with matching bags in that candy came theme, and I added a little more of a stylish look with some craft paper with stags on and decorated with thread and candy cane rope.

After that, the room had the final decorations as you know of!

Next was planning the actual gifts which actually took the longest and I don’t have any pictures to show you as it just included of multiple little notes jotted in many sections everywhere of what my family had asked for or liked, after that the list was compiled on paper and that’s when me and my partner sat down the one day and ordered everything we could online!

After getting all decorations, tree up presents ordered and wrapped and Christmas joy spread by November 30th we were done everything in time for December.

Now if you read all that, well done and thank you, to recap :

  1. Choose theme

  2. Collect items corresponding with theme e.g., baubles and wrapping paper

  3. Get them presents done!! Get it ordered online or gram them while food shopping

  4. And get it wrapped.

I found best to split all these tasks up into 15/20 minute blocks each day and tick off!

Don’t overwhelm yourself in bags full of presents or boxes on boxes of baubles and decorations.

Another great way to be prepared is the January sales! Everything is discounted and you could be done there and then and not have to worry about anything next year but your tree!!
